Taking us back in time to the good old days, back to the 19th century in fact, Beechworth’s Moments & Memories Tea Room celebrates “High Tea” in high fashion.  Lyn Oswald opened the business in 2011 and she has made full use of the traditional English afternoon tea with all its social glory.



Locals and tourists are treated to good, old fashioned service and a menu full of afternoon tea delights.  Dripping in pink and white décor, tables are draped in white linen table cloths with gingham overlays, and are decorated with linen napkins and china tea sets, styled to resemble authentic old English cottage tearooms.



Moments & Memories Tea Room offers a selection of over 60 specialty teas from the Tealeaves brand, available to drink in store as well as to purchase for home use. Devonshire and Pikelet teas are available at all times.  Also available for purchase is a range of jams and preserves, a collection of china, crafts, and framed photography, snapped personally by the cook and owner, Lyn.  Supporting the locals, Lyn uses as much locally produced fruit and vegetables as possible, which make for some delicious soups in the stark-cold winter time in Beechworth.



Lyn is a self-taught cook, who became interested in cooking from a very young age and after entering into cooking competitions, and successfully winning them, Lyn began to realise her talents. Passionate about home-style country cooking, Moments and Memories Tea Room encapsulates Lyn’s cooking specialties providing its customers with a large selection of house-made cakes, biscuits and slices as well as house-made jams and preserves.



The team at Moments & Memories Tea Room has brought back the concept of good old fashioned service and food to Beechworth.  In a small but profound gesture, small sugar cubes and tongs are provided with tea orders, in an effort to relive a simple moment of a bygone era.  Old-style easy listening music from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s is constantly humming, creating a relaxed, country style ambience.



Open for breakfast, morning / afternoon tea, and lunch, Moment & Memories Tea Room specialises in high tea, but bookings are required and can be made via the telephone. The high tea consists of iced-tea accompanied with dips and crackers on arrival, followed by high tea served on three tiered plates with a selection of savouries, sweets and finger sandwiches, along with a drink selection.

For a signature breakfast dish, simply walk-in and ask for the big breakfast, it doesn’t get more down to earth than that.  The big breakfast offers 2 eggs, cooked to your choice, bacon rashers, cooked tomato and mushrooms, baked beans all atop slabs of toast. During the lunch hour, Lyn’s signature dish is the prawn and avocado open-grill toasty.
